Projects
Since setting up ELSC we have been overwhelmed with a vast
amount of young people that has come through our doors. The majority of our
young people have walked in on their own accord, this has shown us that there
are many young people that are looking for a way out of gang life, criminal
activity and many more issues that they face.
We encourage individuals to take part in our drug awareness, anger management
activities and gang/ gun/knife prevention workshops/group sessions. These
sessions are to give individuals an insight of how their actions affect not
only their well-being but their communities as a whole; they are also introduced
to ways to prevent crime.
• To date ELSC has seen face-to-face around 1260 young people between the ages
of 6-26.
• ELSC has put on 8 successful events, bringing together 500 young people
at one time from different communities and boroughs.
• We have disengaged 6 gang leaders some of which has returned to studies
and others mentoring.
• We are currently providing services in 3 schools.
• ELSC has received numerous awards such as Community Champion award from Mothers
against Guns UK, Community Hero award from Damilola Trust and Southwark’s first
Peace Award.
• We have assisted 320 young people in housing and have successfully housed
81, 61% of the remaining amount returned back home.
• 297 young people have returned to further education.
• 47 young people have come off benefits and are in full time work.
• 25 young people who where persistent offenders have not re-offended .
